Dr. Robert Kohn - Research and Teaching-Focused Psychiatrist

Robert Kohn, MD, has maintained a clinical practice as a psychiatrist focused on geriatric psychiatry and intellectual disability. In addition, he runs an Esketamine program for treatment resistant depression. Dr. Kohn is an award-winning researcher and teacher at Brown University. He has taught internationally, serving as a visiting professor with Novo University of Lisbon, the University of Concepcion, Chile, and Universidad de San Carlos for research he pursued in Guatemala. He has published over 200 scientific publications in psychiatry and public health, including three textbooks.

Dr. Kohn founded the geriatric psychiatry fellowship training program at Brown University. He has collaborated and conducted research with the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization. Previously, he led a collaborating center in mental health at Brown University with the World Health Organization. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Geriatric Psychiatry Association. He has served in the past on the boards of Transcultural Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association and the Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture.

Dr. Kohn completed medical school at the University of Illinois and his residency in psychiatry at Brown University. He completed fellowship work with the National Institutes of Health’s Public Health Service division. Dr. Kohn has a Master’s degree in epidemiology from Columbia University.
